Where creativity finds room to breathe

SPEND TIME WELL MASTERING YOUR CRAFT

Powis House Estate is a historic Scottish estate for writers, artists, photographers and makers hosting intimate residential retreats. Ten private acres beneath the Ochil Hills, yours alone, and uninterrupted days for your community to work at their craft.

The setting does its share

You're bringing together people who want to experiment and develop their practice, and the venue should make that easier. Powis has the privacy and flexibility for writing workshops, painting weekends, photography, textiles and printmaking alike. Your programme stays at the heart of it.

An estate that adapts to your retreat

No two creative retreats are the same. A morning around the dining table might end with sketchbooks in the garden, or a photography walk might return to editing indoors and finish beside the fire. Others are quieter, with long stretches to write. The estate is yours alone, so your retreat keeps its own rhythm.

Room to think, make and share

Creative work benefits from variety. There are places to teach, places to work alone, and places where conversation carries on through the day. The moves between them often matter as much as the sessions - time to let an idea settle before returning to the work.

Exclusively yours

From arrival to departure the estate is entirely yours. Two restored Georgian cottages, handcrafted shepherd huts, gardens and shared rooms become home to your community for as long as you're here. People relax faster when no one else is around, and the retreat starts to feel shared rather than scheduled.

In the heart of Scotland

Powis sits beneath the Ochil Hills, thirty-five minutes from Edinburgh Airport and within easy reach of Glasgow and Stirling. Guests get the feeling of stepping away from everyday life without a long journey to reach it.

Everything you need to host with confidence

ACCOMMODATION THAT FEELS CONSIDERED

Guests stay across two restored cottages and two handcrafted shepherd huts. The cottages hold the shared life of the retreat, from meals to conversation to evenings together, while the huts provide a touch of exclusivity and privacy for guests who want somewhere quieter to return to.

WELLNESS BEYOND THE WORK

Swim Lake at distance (3).jpg

The best moments often fall between sessions. Guests swim in the spring-fed lake, sit in the hot tubs, gather at the fire pit, walk the grounds or find a quiet corner of the garden. It all becomes part of the retreat.

HOSTING MADE SIMPLER

PXL_20260526_190945339_edited.jpg

Running a retreat involves enough decisions without the venue adding more. From your first enquiry we work through room layouts, guest logistics and arrival details, and everything is prepared before your guests arrive, so that your energy goes where it belongs.

FLEXIBLE CATERING

DSC06435.jpg

Some hosts bring a chef, some work with local caterers, and some cook themselves. Two full kitchens and generous dining spaces make any of those easy to manage. We're glad to introduce trusted local suppliers, and equally glad to leave you to it.

Easy to reach, difficult to leave

The estate feels far from everything, and isn't. Powis is near Stirling, thirty-five minutes from Edinburgh Airport, forty-five from Glasgow, and a short taxi from Stirling station — deep Scottish countryside without the drive into the Highlands.

Powis suits experienced retreat leaders who care about their surroundings and about the impression the venue leaves on their guests. If you want a place where people slow down, reconnect and leave feeling they've had something rare, tell us what you're planning.
